Welcome to the world of SAORI, I’m excited to share my love of creative weaving with you!
I fell in love with SAORI weaving when I was travelling through Japan and stumbled upon this beautiful craft in a tiny village within the mountains of Honshu in 2007.
You could say it was love at first sight – for the first time I was able to create my own unique textiles easily and quickly and I was hooked! When I returned to Australia, I brought a loom home with me and began my weaving practice. I loved the moving meditation and creativity that I experienced at the loom. It was my stress relief from my busy work and kept me sane. But, as I was the ONLY person in Australia doing SAORI weaving at the time, there was no one else to share it with back then.
I yearned for connection with other people practicing SAORI weaving and wanted to build upon my skills and knowledge learnt on that first trip. So, each year I returned to that little village in Japan, to hone my skills with my SAORI mentor and be inspired by what she, and others, were creating in her SAORI weaving studio. I learned from the masters of SAORI, living with Misao Jo and her family and attained my SAORI teacher accreditation so that I could share this amazing craft with others back home and open my own globally-recognised SAORI studio.
Fast forward to today, my Dyeing to Weave SAORI studio has hosted hundreds of people at the loom and my life mission is to share the creative beauty and joy of SAORI weaving with you all. As an accredited teacher, I am passionate about supporting those with SAORI looms at home, so that you don’t struggle, so that you continue to be confident in your weaving practice and share in the creativity and inspiration of other SAORI weavers. That you remain connected with your loom and find ways of integrating this wonderful, mindful craft into your life.
In 2020, Covid lockdowns led me to identify a real need for an online space where loom owners could learn new skills and techniques, be inspired and connect within a community. I launched the Dyeing to Weave online studio program Inner Circle to provide you with mentorship and support, just as I received when embarking upon my SAORI journey.
I want you, and SAORI loom owners at all points in their weaving journey to be supported, and feel confident, motivated and inspired to create beautiful and unique pieces of SAORI weaving on your loom.

What is the Inner Circle?
The Inner Circle is the Dyeing To Weave online studio program. Within the Inner Circle you will find a vibrant community of SAORI loom owners who come together to learn new skills and techniques, and share creativity and inspiration.
Under Prue’s guidance and passionate enthusiasm and experience in SAORI weaving, you will learn fantastic new techniques, receive lots of inspiration for your weaving practice and stay motivated, confident and connected with your loom.

Weaving Technique Classes
Throughout the year Prue hosts a range of technique based classes online, so you can tune in live to learn a new skill to incorporate into your weaving.
Live online classes give you the opportunity to see the technique in detail, weave along and ask questions to receive real time advice and feedback from Prue during the lesson.
SAORI Immersive Retreat
The closest thing to travelling to Japan! Each year Prue hosts a limited number of SAORI Immersive Retreats at Shizuka Ryokan in the tranquil setting of Hepburn Springs in Victoria.
As a member of the Inner Circle you will have first access to bookings when dates are released for this amazing Retreat experience that sells out quickly each year.
Take some time out for yourself and your creative pursuit, invite a group of friends to join you and immerse yourself in the craft of SAORI weaving.
SAORI Social Sessions
Be inspired by projects that fellow SAORI weavers are creating on their looms, and have the chance to show off some of your latest work.
Grab a cuppa, and take a seat at the loom. Our social sessions are about connecting with fellow weavers around Australia and being inspired by each other to create beautiful woven cloth and projects.

As a licensed SAORI dealer Prue has access to some of the best and most beautiful SAORI warps and yarns. As a member of the Inner Circle you will have first access to purchase these beautiful yarns and warps via our VIP secret shop online.
